WOONSOCKET - Theatre Works, the city-based community theater group now celebrating its 20th season, announces a special performance of "Bang, Bang, You're Dead," a one act drama dealing with teen violence.
The story is about a teen-age boy who can no longer handle his life and chooses to kill five of his classmates and his parents. The material in this production may not be suitable for younger children and parents are asked to use their discretion.
Performances are tonight at 8 and tomorrow at 2 p.m. in the Theatre Works auditorium, 78 Earle St. Tickets are $5 and available at the door.
Allison Cournoyer of Woonsocket, who makes her directorial debut with this production, says that when she saw this production performed at Woonsocket High School, it had a great impact do her and she wanted to share it with others.
She has assembled a cast of 13 high school students to bring this production to life. Sean Arcand of Slatersville plays Josh, the main character of the show. This is Arcand's first appearance with Theatre Works, although he has acted and directed at North Smithfield High School.
Cast as the victims of Josh's actions are Jenna Jasmin and David Roy of Woonsocket, Rachel Miller Sprafke of Providence, Nigel King of Cumberland and Kerri McNiff of Foster.
Playing the roles of Josh's mother and father are Deanna Hewey of Cumberland and Charlie Hunt of Woonsocket.
Serving as Josh's conscience, taunting him throughout the show, are Stacey Dennis, Kelly Marcotte, Rachel Dubois and Chris Cournoyer, all of Woonsocket, and Rebecca Bacon of Cumberland.
